Cat behaviour problems tend to be less noticed as cats, due to their nature, will often resort to a flight response if they are nervous or frightened. Quite often there may be underlying friction between neighbourhood cats or even cats in the same household that goes un-noticed by owners, which is causing considerable stress and anxiety.

Feline behaviour problems include:

  • Spraying in the house. This is the most commonly reported behaviour problem with cats as it directly affects the owner in their home. Both male and female cats will spray
  • Indoor urination and defecation
  • Scratching carpets and furniture
  • Aggression to owner when being stroked
  • Aggression to people, dogs or neighbourhood cats
  • Aggression in multi-cat households
  • Nervousness
  • Fears and phobias
  • Over grooming
  • Pica, the eating of items with no nutritional value, e.g., wool and plastic

If your cat is displaying any of these problems or a behaviour that is of concern
